Those of you who have children will know how important it is to make sure that your children are just as safe as you when they are in the vehicle with you. Ensuring that their seats and restraints are properly fitted to the vehicle.
In the back of the vehicle there are certain fastening points where your childs seat will attach to, it is very important that you use only the correct fastening points that are provided by Ford to fasten your childs seat in. Any other fastening points that you make or get out of another vehicle may not be strong enough and may not mount properly into your Ford. Always make sure that the seat is correctly and tightly fastened into place before putting your child into the car.Young children should never be allowed to sit in the front seat of a vehicle equipped with an airbag. Although airbags save the lives of adults, they may do some serious injury or worse to a child that is sitting in the front seat and is hit by them. Airbags are a controlled explosion, which means they come out with a great deal of force. The airbag would hit the child in a different position as to where they would hit an adult due to the height difference. The airbag could cause serious facial and neck damage to your child if they are sitting in the front when the airbag deploys.
Following these couple simple things will help you protect your child in the event of a car accident, and possibly save their life.
Maintaining the engine in your car is a very important part of looking after your car. Without regular maintenance and servicing, your engine will eventually fail and end up costing you a lot of money.
Here are a few easy things to check on your engine that will help you keep an eye on all the levels and fluid condition.
Your engine oil dipstick is the way to check how much oil you have in your engine. You can usually find your engine oil dipstick on the side of your engine, in most Fords the handle of it will be yellow making it easy to find. Upon pulling it out you will need to wipe away all oil off the dipstick and then re dip it in. Upon removal of the dipstick the second time you will be able to look at the bottom of it and read your engine oil level. If it is on the “Add” indicator add some oil to your engine, or if you do not know how much to add in go see your local mechanic.
Your coolant level can be found by looking on the side of the radiator overflow bottle. If the level is down to “Min” or below min, add some coolant or water in. Note: Do not open radiator overflow bottle cap when the engine is hot or has been recently run. There will be a build up of pressure in the cooling system and if opened it will cause boiling hot water to shoot out potentially harming yourself or anyone nearby.
Your brake fluid level can be check by looking on the side of the brake master cylinder and looking at the level indicator. Once again if it is low you can top the fluid levels up, but be sure to put the correct brake fluid in. If there is no fluid at all in the reservoir do not drive your car as air would have been sucked into the braking system causing your brakes not to work correctly. Call a tow truck to get your car towed to your mechanic.
If you notice any leaks from any part of your car, whether it be any types of oil or coolant. Take your car to a mechanic as soon as possible to get the leak repaired and the fluid levels topped up.
Following these quick easy steps will help you to maintain the engine and fluid levels of your car, helping prevent any unnecessary damage that may occur from fluid levels being too low. If you are looking any car parts, Check out http://www.fordprowreckers.com.au
The suspension of your Ford is a key to the way your car handles. Standard factory suspension is designed to offer you a smooth ride, but it is not designed for heavy cornering or towing heavy loads.
Lowering the suspension in your Ford can help improve the overall handling of it. It will allow for quicker cornering and reduce body roll. Body roll occurs when the car is put into a corner at a quick speed, the side that has more load on it dips down and then springs back up. Upgrading to a lowered suspension can help reduce the body roll of your Ford and help it grip and stick to the road better.
Load rated rear suspension can help compensate for heavy loads that you tow. Upgrading to adjustable rear suspension, or air bag assisted can help a lot when it comes to towing a heavy load. The upgraded rear towing suspension will reduce wear and tear on your Ford when it comes to towing heavy loads.
The ultimate suspension upgrade would be coil overs, they are fully adjustable and can offer you either a soft or stiff ride, perfect for everyday use or for the track.
We offer a large range of second hand suspension upgrades here at FordPro, come in store and see our range or visit us at http://www.fordprowreckers.com.au
Paint work on your Ford is always one of the first things people will notice about it, so its very important to keep it in pristine condition. Here’s a few tips on how to look after your paint work.
Wash your car often, with a good clean sponge and warm soapy water. It is important to make sure any presents birds leave splattered on your car are removed as quick as possible. It can damage your paintwork and leave stains on it.
Try not to leave your car exposed to sunlight all day, this can damage the paint and cause fading, it can also make the clear coat on your paint start to bubble up and then eventually peel off.
Keep your car waxed and polished for a nice shine, some waxes also help protect the paint from the damaging rays of the sun. The quality of the wax you use is also important, the better the quality the better chance you have of your paint work being protected for longer.
Try to keep pets and all animals off and away from your car, their claws can put some serious scratches on your paintwork. Animals should be kept away and not allowed to use your car as a bed or a place to walk along.
When parking your car, try not to park next to other cars if possible. The people who are getting into the car that is parked next to your one may not be as careful as you are and they may scratch your car accidentally with jewellery or bags.
Following these simple steps will help ensure that your paint work on your Ford stays in good condition without any fading or scratches.
Your wheels and tyres are very important things on your car as they are the key component that connects you and your car to the road. Having the correct tyres and tyre pressure is a must!
Running the correct tyre pressure in your tyres is very important for a few reasons. Incorrect tyre pressure can cause excessive tyre wear on the tyres and also make it dangerous for you when you are driving. Severely under inflated tyres can cause damage to the side wall of your tyre which would mean that your tyre would need replacing.
Under inflated tyres can also lead to you buckling your wheels. This can happen due to the lack of protection that the tyre gives to the rim when it is under inflated. Hitting a pothole or any imperfection in the road with an under inflated tyre can also cause a blow out of your tyre.
Wheel alignment is also a very important thing too, without a wheel alignment your car can pull to one side and can also cause un even tyre wear. It can be very dangerous to not have a good wheel alignment on your car as it makes it harder to control.
When getting new tyres fitted it is very important to make sure that if they are directional tyres that they will be rotating the correct way. If not, they will not grip you to the road like they are ment to and it can also lead to aquaplaning in the wet.
If you do get a flat tyre, then pull over straight away and change your tyre or call for assistance. If you do not pull over when you have a flat and try to continue driving your tyre will eventually disintegrate and will only leave you on your rim.

Changing the oil on your car is a very important part of maintaining your Ford. Regular oil changes will help your Ford drive better and last for longer. Changing the oil is simple and is done in a few easy steps.
Jack the front of your car up or put it on a hoist. On the bottom of your engine, which is known as the oil sump you will see a hexagonal shaped plug, known as the sump plug. After placing an oil catch pan under the sump, undo the sump plug and let all of the used oil drain out
Once the oil has completely drained out, you will need to remove your oil filter, which is located on the side of the engine. You will need a filter removing tool to do so. Once the filter is removed, drain the oil out of the filter and dispose of the oil and used filter properly.
Before fitting your new oil filter, remove the plastic film over the part of the filter that screws on, and lubricate the rubber seal on the filter with some engine oil.
Screw the oil filter on and do it up tight by hand, ensuring that you do not over tighten the filter as it can do damage to the filter or housing.
Put the plug back into your sump and make sure it is done up tight. Make sure you do not cross thread the sump plug, and do not over tighten it. Some sump plugs have a small gasket that goes on them, if so it is a good idea to replace that too.
Now that your filter and sump plug are on you can now fill the engine up with oil from the oil filler cap.
Do not put all of your oil straight in. You need to add the oil bit by bit and continue to check it on the oil dipstick. Remember the oil takes time to drain from the top of the motor to the sump, so give it a little time in between pouring it in before checking.
Once the oil is filled to the correct level on the dip stick, its then safe to put the oil cap back on and start the vehicle. Let the car run for a small amount of time to get all of the oil pumping through the engine.
Switch the engine off and then pull the dipstick out, and check it again. The oil level may have dropped as the oil has now been pumped through the motor and filled the filter up. If needed removed the oil cap, top up the oil and replace the cap.
Now it is sake to lower the car off the jack and you have finished the job!
